Dahlia Tuber Order and Shipping Policies

What You’re Agreeing to When You Purchase Dahlia Tubers from Cassell Hollow Farm

We’re thrilled to share our dahlias with you! When you place a dahlia tuber order through Cassell Hollow Farm, you acknowledge and agree to the policies outlined below. We’ll always do our best to provide healthy, viable tubers—and we appreciate your understanding as we navigate the unpredictable nature of farming.

Some flexibility may be extended at our discretion, but here’s what to expect:

Grievances and Communication

If you encounter an issue with your order, please email us within 24 hours of delivery so we can assist you. This time frame helps us verify what happened and resolve the issue as effectively as possible.

Dahlia Ordering Options

We sell individual dahlia tubers, not clumps, unless otherwise specified. Prices and availability are listed on our website.

Cancellations

We typically do not accept cancellations unless there’s a significant issue on your end. If we approve a cancellation, a 20% restocking fee will apply to cover handling and inventory adjustments.

Changes to Orders

To avoid confusion or mistakes, we do not accept changes to orders once they have been placed. Please double-check your cart before proceeding to checkout.

Shipping & Delivery Expectations

Once your package leaves our hands and is in the care of the carrier, we are not liable for delays, damage, loss, or freezing during transit.

We will always provide tracking info via email when available. Please ensure you enter a valid email address during checkout.

Your tracking number enables you (and us) to track the delivery. If tracking confirms the package was delivered, we consider the order fulfilled.

When You Receive Your Tubers

Please open your package right away and inspect the contents. Tubers should be stored properly and not left sitting in the box.

If you notice a problem, email us within 24 hours of delivery, and include a photo of the issue. If your concern is related to rot or soft tubers, we may ask for a short video.

We’ll respond as quickly as we can, usually within 24–48 hours, especially during peak shipping season.

We’re All Human

We kindly ask that you refrain from using profanity or rude language in your emails. We’re here to help, and we want to maintain a respectful and kind exchange with all of our customers.

Please also note:

  • We can’t respond to emails sent solely to express disappointment that an item has sold out. We know it’s a bummer.

  • If an item becomes unavailable due to a storage issue or another unforeseen event before your order is shipped, we will notify you and issue a full refund for that item.

What to Expect from Our Tubers

Tubers come in many shapes and sizes, and all are capable of producing beautiful plants. Some are plump, some are small and twisted. Many are the size of a thumb or an AA battery, which is ideal for quick root development.

Minor imperfections, such as a nick from a digging fork, missing skin, or a curved shape, do not affect viability. If a tuber has an eye and the tissue is healthy, it will grow.

If you truly believe the tuber is too damaged to grow, let us know. In some cases, you may need to mail it back (at your expense) for a replacement.

Bloom Surprises

Despite our best efforts, if a tuber blooms incorrectly (not true to type), please be assured that it was never intentional. Mistakes can happen during harvesting or labeling. We will gladly work with you to make it right, usually by offering a replacement tuber the following season. Please provide a photo of the bloom and your order info so we can verify.

We respectfully ask that you contact us directly before posting complaints or negative reviews online—we would like the opportunity to make things right.

Virus Policy

We do not offer refunds or replacements for plants suspected of having a virus.

While we inspect each plant closely and discard anything that appears concerning, even virus-free stock can become infected by insects after planting. This is an inherent risk in all dahlia cultivation.

Please be wary of claims that any stock is “guaranteed virus-free.” There is no such guarantee in open-field growing.

Final Notes

We begin shipping in April, weather permitting.

We reserve the right to refuse service, particularly in cases of repeated policy violations or public complaints made without prior contact.

Thank you for growing with us—we’re so grateful to share our love of dahlias with you.
